Unification of some Least Squares Clustering Methods

چکیده
We give a unifying description of several least squares clustering methods. We consider the K-means/Lloyd’s algorithm, various local search based methods and clustering techniques based on neural networks. The relations between the various algorithms are explained. Also some computational results of these algorithms are given. Mathematics Subject Classifications (2000): 62H30, 68T05-20, 90C59, 91C20, 92B20.

A Unification of Component Analysis Methods
Over the last century Component Analysis (CA) methods such as Principal Component Analysis (PCA), Linear Discriminant Analysis (LDA), Canonical Correlation Analysis (CCA), k-means and Spectral Clustering (SC) have been extensively used as a feature extraction step for modeling, classification, visualization and clustering. CA techniques are appealing because many can be formulated as eigen-prob...
متن کاملA Note on the e ectiveness of the LEAST SQUARES CONSENSUS CLUSTERING
We develop a consensus clustering framework proposed three decades ago in Russia and experimentally demonstrate that our least squares consensus clustering algorithm consistently outperforms several recent consensus clustering methods. keywords: consensus clustering, ensemble clustering, least squares
متن کاملUnification of neural and statistical methods as applied to materials structure - property mapping *
A wide variety of neural and statistical methods are available for nonlinear empirical modeling based on different modeling approaches. Selecting the best method for a given task requires deep understanding of their similarities and differences and a systematic approach to method selection. This paper presents a common framework for gaining insight into neural and statistical modeling methods. ...
متن کاملFast Regularized Least Squares and k-means Clustering Method for Intrusion Detection Systems
Intrusion detection systems are intended for reliable, accurate and efficient detection of attacks in a large networked system. Machine learning methods have shown promising results in terms of accuracy but one disadvantage they share is the high computational cost of training and prediction phase when applied to intrusion detection. Recently some methods have been introduced to increase this e...
متن کاملA Least Squares Approach to Estimating the Average Reservoir Pressure
Least squares method (LSM) is an accurate and rapid method for solving some analytical and numerical problems. This method can be used to estimate the average reservoir pressure in well test analysis. In fact, it may be employed to estimate parameters such as permeability (k) and pore volume (Vp). Regarding this point, buildup, drawdown, late transient test data, modified Muskat method, interfe...
